Sketches from Appleseed Comic Con 2014

Appleseed Comic Con was tremendous! I had an incredibly great time at the show and hanging out before and afterwards. Didn't do a ton of sketches but there was a steady stream of business as I moved a lot of prints and books. The people of Fort Wayne are friendly, engaging, and good lookin'! Thank you Zack Kruse and Co. for putting on such a fantastic show. I prize the time I got to hang out and talk with friends new and old. If every show were the Appleseed Comic Con, the world would be a better place.

Sketches from Free Comic Book Day 2014

Another Free Comic Book Day come and gone. I was a guest once again at Phantom of the Attic, in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh. I was swamped with sketch requests, and I tried to do my best while the pressure was on. The sketches were free for the kids and cheap for everyone else. Big thanks to everyone who came by and to the awesome folks at Phantom for having me and putting on a great event!

Sketches from C2E2 part 1

My first time at C2E2 was fantastic! It's huge. It's busy. The crowds were big and plenty. I only saw the show from behind my table or the occasional rush to the lavatory, so I couldn't tell you what else was going on out there. It was great to have a signing at the Dark Horse booth. All of the copies I brought of Breath of Bones sold out by the end of Saturday. Here are pics of most of the sketches I did, not counting all the ones inside the books. It felt good to be back in Chicago.

Due to my schedule, I can only accept a few requests for the convention. I will be finishing these sketches at the show, so if you're only going to be there a certain time, let me know so I can best schedule you in.

Pre-pay via PayPal to avoid carrying so much cash at the con. Just send me an email at dave@davedrawscomics.com

The Guns of Shadow Valley hardcover pre-order

The new Previews catalog just came out, and right there in the Dark Horse section is The Guns of Shadow Valley -oversized - hardcover - collected edition! Be sure to pre-order a copy (Order Code APR140017) and tell your friends to order their copies too! The book hits stores in August, but Pre-orders are very important, especially to a creator-owned book like ours. So be sure to tell your retailer that you want a copy. Thanks!

A note to our Kickstarter backers: This does not affect the release of the Kickstarter edition at all. This is a separate edition of the book. You'll still receive your limited Kickstarter edition of the hardcover in July, along with all the extras.

Swamp Thing for auction

This drawing I did of Swamp Thing is available as part of the auction to help Steve Niles and Monica Richards recover from the recent flooding that damaged their Austin, Texas home and destroyed many of their possessions.

Famed horror comics writer, and my friend, Steve Niles (30 Days of Night, Criminal Macabre, Breath of Bones) and musician Monica Richards (Faith and the Muse, Anima Mundi, Strange Boutique) recently found themselves in serious jeopardy when flood waters invaded their Austin, Texas home. Thankfully, everyone is okay. But there has been serious damage to their house that will take time and lots of money to fix. You can read articles on CBR about the flood, and about the auctionHere's the link to the full auction, full of incredible art and more: Ebay Auction for Steve Niles
